Diplomatic passport are issued for the persons who have a diplomatic status under the international law and customs. In India only the following categories of peoples are entitled to the issuance of a Diplomatic Passport: - elected members of parliament, well known personalities like sportsman, musicians, artists etc. or those peoples who are employed in the offices of Govt. Of India abroad, like high commission, embassies etc, The outer cover of the diplomatic passport is Maroonish Red. It has 36 pages. The validity varies from case to case. The passport no. Comprises of the alphabet ‘D’ and ‘6’ or ‘7’ numerical. Travel is permitted to all countries except a few where some restriction may be imposed. Immigration clearance is not required. The spouse or dependents of the diplomatic passport holder may be given a Diplomatic Passport as per the pleasure of Government Of India. |
