International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO): ICAO is the permanent international authority founded by Chicago convention in Chicago in 1944 for equality of opportunity and for smooth and regular air transport. ICAO was formally organized in 1947 as a specialized agency of united nations. ICAO has 187 member countries with headquarter in Montreal (Canada). Regional offices of ICAO are in Paris, Dakar, Cairo, Bangkok, Lima and Mexico. Aims of ICAO - for safe international civil aviation, for aircraft design and operation, to provide safe regular and economical air transport, to avoid unreasonable competition, to create fair opportunity for the contracting states to operate their international airline, to develop airport, airways and air navigation and safety of flight in international navigation. Aircraft nationality and registration mark - ICAO gives code for identification to their member countries for all the civil aircraft registered in their own country.All civil aircraft registered with DGCA(Director General of Civil Aviation) India have the identification code ‘VT’. DGCA also give identification code EFU. Airport around the world - ICAO member’s states have 39516 airports around the world. 16360 airports are opened to the public and 1050 aerodromes, have facilities necessary for international scheduled air transport.
